EXPERT:What engine?
MECHANIC:1.4 petrol, 103 kW.
EXPERT:Ok, what exactly is the situation?
MECHANIC:We can't start it, it behaves as if the battery is weak, I mean, the starter motor is not working, we can only hear the ticking of the electromagnet. Also... we checked the wiring and we found out that there is not enough power from the engine controller to the starter relay. And not only that, the battery we put in is brand new, but when the car stays overnight, in the morning when I go to start it, the starter clicks, but if I connect a second battery in series then the car starts with no problem.
EXPERT:This means that either you have no ground on the engine or you have a high-current cable that is defective.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a consultation cost?

Single consultations often consist of multiple calls, because it is very common that an expert asks the mechanic to check/measure something or that he needs some time to analyse the case. The cost is:

£29
for a 20 minute consultation
£49
for a 40 minute consultation
£79 per month
for a subscription with unlimited consultations

where only the actual call time minutes are counted. In the majority of cases 20 minutes is enough to fully solve one case.

We also offer a monthly subscription with unlimited consultations called BETiS hotline. Many repair shops have chosen to opt for this option, because they noticed that it's a huge speed up to call often even for simple things. One of the mechanics put it this way: "When I'm near the car, it is faster to call BETiS to ask for schematic analysis than to go clean my hands, fire up the computer and find and analyse the schematic myself."

The first month of BETiS hotline is free and after that it costs £79 per month (you can cancel any time).

All the amounts are:

  • the gross amounts for private individuals (non-VAT payers)
  • the net amounts for businesses (VAT payers)

Why this way?

We are a company with headquarters in Poland and there is a very unusual situation here, where neither Poland nor the UK want VAT when providing this kind of service to non VAT payers. Until the laws of either country change, there is simply no tax, so services for individuals can be just as cheap as for businesses.

Who can use the hotline?

Currently anyone in the UK with a UK telephone number (starting with +44).

If you are from another country and would like to use BETiS hotline - write to us! If we'll have enough people interested from your country, we'll launch a hotline there too.

In what languages does the hotline operate?

The hotline operates in Polish and English, so you can choose which language you prefer. If you sign up for BETiS hotline you will get access to 2 numbers and at any time you can use whichever number you prefer in the same fashion (this might be handy if you run a repair shop with both English and Polish mechanics).
